Cynthia R. Finnegan, LMSW - Founder/CEO
Therapist, Counselor, Coach
Detroit

Cynthia R, Finnegan is a licensed Clinical and Macro Social Worker who has worked in the field for close to 20 years.  She received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW) from Northern Michigan University with minors in Substance Abuse Counseling, Policy Evaluation, and Human Behavior Analysis. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Michigan State University with a clinical focus.  She is fully licensed with the State of Michigan as a Clinical and Macro Social Worker (LMSW).

Prior to receiving her bachelors degree, Cynthia was working in a youth facility for children with mental illness.  She spent many years in the child welfare field -- Foster Care Worker, Families First Worker, Family Worker for teenage boys in placement, home based therapist for children and families involved in the foster care system, etc.  She also spent numerous years as a clinical therapist in many different capacities (the elderly, teenagers, families, couples, etc).  The last eight years of her career were spent at a busy Community Mental Health Center in Detroit in which she was promoted from therapist to Director to Executive Director of Clinical Services.  Although she held a high management position, she always maintained a case load and continued to see clients struggling with mental illness. Cynthia's passion has always been in serving Detroit. She works endlessly helping others find hope in what they might initially consider a hopeless situation.  Opening Motor City Center for Hope was a dream she held for many years and having this dream become a reality has been her biggest accomplishment to date.

Cynthia has specialized training in Motivational Interviewing and EMDR and is passionate about helping those in Detroit and the surrounding areas recover from depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, abuse, and relationship struggles. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and travels all over the nation attending Social Work Training and conferences to ensure she always stay current on best clinical practices.

Cynthia is available to not only provide individual, group, and family therapy but also clinical social work supervision and professional training and staff development.  For more information or to contact Cynthia directly, please call or text 313-208-3407.
